Become a Governor

Would you like to be a school governor?

Do you have a little spare time to volunteer? Would you like to do something worthwhile that represents your community? Are you keen to do something rewarding that will help benefit the next generation? Do you have a desire to contribute to our children’s education and ensure they get a good start in life? Are you over the age of 18 years and would you like to be part of a team that supports a school to achieve this? Do you have a wider interest in education or a specific role that would benefit from your experience as a governor?

We are looking for people who are self-motivated, enthusiastic and objective with an enquiring mind. You may bring life skills or skills you have gained through work, and we are also looking for governors of all ages. You do not need to be an expert in education but will be willing to learn as training and induction is provided, and you may learn new skills that will help you in your work life. You will also be willing to listen and work as a team.

An Daras Trust is comprised of 8 primary schools based around North Petherwin, Werrington, St Stephens by Launceston, 2 in Launceston town, Coads Green, Lew Trenchard and Princetown. We are looking for people of all ages, including young people in these communities to consider being a governor.
