KS2 Spaceport Trip

9th June 2025

Key Stage 2 had an exciting and inspiring visit to Spaceport Cornwall in Newquay, concluding our learning about space this term. During our tour, we explored the facilities and saw a replica of the UK Space Agency’s impressive 72ft rocket. We learned about the UK’s first satellite launch attempt in January 2023 and got a fascinating look inside the clean room, where satellites are prepared for space.

The visit also introduced us to the world of satellite technology and the exciting careers available in STEM and space exploration. One highlight was learning about NASA’s mission to land the first woman on the Moon. It was a truly memorable day that left us all feeling inspired about the future of space travel.

After our inspiring visit to Spaceport Cornwall, KS2 headed to the beach for a fun-filled afternoon. The children sat on the beach to eat their lunch, played a lively game of rounders, spotted jellyfish, and even built a rocket out of rocks and pebbles!
The trip was a perfect blend of education and adventure.
